Lately, it’s Cantilevers!
Cantilever is not a word most fiber artists associate with looms, but our Fireside Tapestry Looms up to 48″ wide are referred to as Cantilever Looms because of their unique diagonal frame structure. Our last 3 workshop projects have involved Cantilever Looms. In early summer we re-engineered our 4-harness tapestry loom design for smoother operation. June and July afforded us the opportunity to build a walnut 36″ cantilever tapestry loom. During August and September, we helped an Aloomni facilitate the sale of their 36″ cherry loom located in New Mexico to a fiber artist in Ohio with a brief stop in our shop for refurbishment and a custom treadle layout. It’s been exciting to work with Tapestry Looms after a long-stretch of building and refurbishing Floor Looms.
